Copilot allows you to combine the input from two controllers, so that two people can play as one.
Alternatively, one person can use this featureto divide the controls between two controllers to play in a more comfortable or accessible way
To turn on Copilot: from the Xbox menu, navigate to settings, then down to ‘Ease of Access’ settings.
Then select the ‘Controller’ icon, go down to ‘Copilot settings,’ plug in or turn on your second controller if you haven’t already.
Then go down and select ‘Turn on Copilot’ which will be highlighted when two controllers are connected to the Xbox One console.
Controllers can be used wired or wirelessly.
In the following examples, we will use the left half of one controller and the right half of the other controller, however all functions on both controllers will continue to work in Copilot.
The controls on these controllers could either be split between two players or between different parts of the body for one player. As an example,
one controller could be used in the left hand and one controller in the right hand or the joystick on one of the controllers could be used with the chin and the other controller could be used in the hands, if either of these were a more comfortable way to play.
Controller 1 (on the left) is being used here for move and aiming down the sight and controller 2 (on the right) is being used for looking around and firing, as well as jumping.
Controller 1 here is used for direction and controller 2 for pass and shoot.
Controller 1 is used for steer, whilst controller 2 is used to accelerate, with the default right trigger remapped to the A button in game.
If your game doesn’t allow but remapping, you can use the ‘Button Mapping’ features on the Xbox One console to move and split the controls between the two controllers in a way which suits you For instance, if you wanted to use one of the controllers in a particular way but were unable to use the ‘A’ button and the D-Pad was easier to use, you could swap the ‘A’ Button with a button on the D-Pad.
You can also swap the joysticks with each other and the same with the triggers.
