Controls List

The default controller layout displays most actions, many of which can be remapped to other control inputs (Options > Controls > Input > View Controls).

Whilst the rest of pages in this post focus on particular menus, here we will take a look at the controls used to play which may give more background context to the options described across the rest of the post.

The controller layout above shows the default general gameplay actions and the inputs they are mapped to by default. Whilst many of the controls can be remapped, in this section, we will look at the actions used in-game and their default mappings. We will also note when actions are bound together as a group of actions. These groups of actions (e.g. Dodge/Sprint) can be mapped to different inputs on the controller in a customised layout, but not separately, e.g. Dodge could not be mapped to L1 and Sprint to L3, for example.

We will also look at what type of interactions are required when using them, such as a press, a hold, a hold for a set duration (including brief holds) or repeated taps.

When an action is remappable you can remap the actions to face buttons, triggers, joystick clicks (L3/R3), the touchpad button, touchpad swipes and the motion sensor (to a shake motion) on the Dualshock 4 controller. However, you cannot remap to or from the D-Pad or individual joystick axes.

In addition to a completely custom control scheme, there are also Left Hand Only and Right Hand Only control schemes available, which move certain controls with the aim to make it easier to access them when using one hand only to play on a standard controller. We will list these in the Alternate Controls menu section on page 5.
