We’re always looking for accessibility settings within games that we can make use of. In this video we’re going to be looking at the controls and settings for Devil May Cry 5. Devil May Cry 5 is the latest instalment in the popular hack and slash series. It’s available on PS4, Xbox and PC. In this video we’re going to be looking at the console version. However, all the settings can be found on PC. You can play as three different characters within the game as the story progresses. Each character has their own specific move sets and skills. The characters include Nero, V and Dante. We’re going to be first looking at the generic controls for all characters before moving on to the character specific controls. Left stick controls your character, and right stick controls the camera. You can reset the camera position to its original position by pressing R3 for PS4. For Xbox this would be RS. X on PS4 or A on Xbox makes a character jump. Square on PS4 and X on Xbox performs your long-range attack. Triangle on PS4 or Y on Xbox controls your short-range attack. Holding down R1 for PS4 or RB for Xbox locks on to your target. Pressing L3 and PS4 changes your locked-on target. For Xbox this will be LS. You can dodge by pressing X whilst holding R1 and moving left stick in any direction. For Xbox this will be pressing A whilst holding RB and moving the left stick in any direction. Nero has several arm weapons called Devil Breakers that he can use in battle. Each one with their own unique ability. Pressing Circle for PS4 or B for Xbox activates your Devil Breakers. L1 on PS4 or LB on Xbox explodes the devil breaker. Repeatedly pressing L2 for PS4 or LT for Xbox powers up Nero’s sword. L1 for PS4 or LB for Xbox activates Devil Trigger and summons this creature called Nightmare to do special attacks. Holding R2 for PS4 or RT for Xbox refills your Devil Trigger. The purple bar fills up as you’re reading your book. Pressing L2 with either Square or Triangle makes these demons more powerful. This sets them to Auto Attack. For Xbox this would be LT with either X or Y. V will need to finish off damaged enemies himself, for his demons cannot do so. Pressing Circle or B will perform V’s finishing move. Dante also has a Devil Trigger just like V and pressing L1 or LB activates this. L2 or LT changes your guns, Whilst R2 and RT changes your close-range weapon. The D-pad allows you to change your attack style. Each one has their own style action. This is done by pressing Circle or B. D-pad Up activates the Trickster style. D-pad Left activates the Gunslinger style. D-pad Right activates the Sword Master style. D-pad Down activates the Royal Guard style. The game has an Assist Mode that allows you to perform several attack combos by pressing a single button rather than multiple buttons. This can be turned on in the Game Menu or by holding down R3 or RS, in game. You will know that Auto Assist is on because the word Auto will appear in the top right corner of the game screen. If you turn on camera tracking, the camera will turn with your character as you turn left and right meaning you can play the game with only one stick. The game allows you to remap certain controls based on function, ability or preference. However, Dante is the only character where you can remap the individual D-pad buttons. The stick clicks can only be swapped, meaning you cannot remap the change targets or the camera reset to other button functions. You can increase or decrease your field of view, meaning you can choose to see more of your surroundings or see things at a closer range. Thank you for watching and if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch with SpecialEffect.
