Xbox have announced the Xbox Adaptive Joystick, which is designed as a ‘companion for the Xbox Adaptive Controller and other Xbox controllers’. It will be released in early 2025.
*Update 19/03/25 – The Xbox Adaptive Joystick is now available in some some markets: https://www.xbox.com/en-GB/accessories/controllers/xbox-adaptive-joystick
The joystick can be connected via an Xbox Adaptive Controller (XAC) to be used as either the Left or Right Stick. It can also be used directly with an Xbox Series S/X console or a Windows 10/11 PC. Connecting it directly will also allow players to use the six integrated buttons on the controller. These can be remapped to the controller inputs you like, using the Xbox Accessories app. You can then pair an additional controller, such as an XAC, Standard Xbox Controller or Elite controller to use additional inputs alongside it.
It is designed to be held in a single hand or can be mounted to use with other parts of the body. For instance, it includes a 1/4″ fitting, that allows it to be mounted on devices such a Manfrotto Variable Friction Arm (with a compatible Spigot) which could be used to position the joystick to be used with the mouth or chin.

A range of designs for joystick toppers are available to download and 3D print. Customisation of the width and height of the toppers is possible using the Xbox Design Lab.

These topper designs are available now and can also be customised for use on a Standard or Elite Xbox controller. More information can be found on their dedicated page on the Xbox site.
